Memorial Day weekend, 2007

:::Warning Posts out of order! I forgot I had some pics from last weekend until writing the previous post :-P :::

Me, Duane and the Roth's had a fabulous dinner on Friday. We sat out on the back patio of the Roadhouse Grille in Skippack. Bryan and I had a delicious grilled filet with crabmeat and asparagus while Shannon and Duane had the seared Ahi Tuna. Shannon and I shared a bottle of wine so needless to say we got a little tipsy. Here's a couple of snapshots:

Duane and I didn't have many plans for the rest of the weekend. My plan was to power wash and seal/stain our deck. While moving the furniture off of the deck, our neighbor informed Duane of a contractor that was going to do his deck for a very reasonable price. We were sold on that idea. I like to try to be a DIY'er but that is a serious task that is probably better handled by a professional.

We ended up doing some shopping, hanging out and even did some closet clean outs. Charley is having a great time hiding in the piles of clothes! Next step is to get the piles out of our house!
Finally, we had a couple of visits with the Peck's. Mom Peck had her second catherization in 4 weeks on Friday, this one for two blockages in her left leg. She was in a lot of pain but is getting better by the hour, even met us out for dinner on Sunday. Hope you feel better soon Mrs. Peck!

Time really does fly!

Wow, I've been a slacker in the posting department lately! :::Just remembered I could post about our Memorial day weekend though!:::

I'm currently enrolled in two summer courses at Temple. One is on Tuesday and Thursday nights and is all about Pharmaceutical pre-approval inspections (i.e. the inspections that occur before you can market product) and the other is every other Sunday for 6 Sundays and is about High purity water systems. Can you imagine sitting in class for 8 hours listening to a guy talk enthusiastically about water?!?!! Imagine it. I do it even if it does seem like torture! Only 5 classes left until my Masters! Thank goodness.

I can't believe it is June already! Thankfully, I think the tree pollen season is dying down b/c my allergies have been much more tolerable lately.

One year from this Sunday I was buying my wedding dress. Aww, such nice memories of being in that dress. Sad that it is still uncleaned from our wedding day and hanging at my parents house. Seven years from this Sunday I was in my friend Jen's wedding - can't believe 7 years have gone by! This Sunday you should take a picture at 2 PM EST. Check out this site and participate! http://aminuteinlife.blogspot.com/ I'll be in class but I may just sneak out and get a pic of the geese that live on Fort Washington's campus!

It's our 3-Monthiversary!

Wow, it's been three months already! We're a quarter a way to our first anniversary! I'm just now getting out my Thank you cards, and although I know Emily Post is probably having a heart attack over that etiquette, I'm glad we waited and made personalized cards. We ordered them from Mpix. They were awesome to work with. When the first version arrived and it looked like we all had Groucho Marx eyebrows and mustaches because of the pearl paper, we only had to send them back and wait a few days for new ones. The final product is very high quality and less expensive than cards from other sites. The software you use for cards on Mpix is easy too.

Anyway, the images on the card show the happiest day of my life. I love my husband more every day and look forward to many more monthiversary's and anniversary's with him (and home to get back to Azul soon too :::hint hint:::)!

Rant about spring

I love the springtime, I just hate how it makes me feel. My allergies are becoming unbearable. The sneezing and runny nose I can deal with, it's the itchy eyes and headaches that make me miserable. I'm seriously concerned I'm going to damage my eyes by rubbing and itching so much. Hopefully I'll get to the allergist this week and hopefully the drug companies have come out with a new and improved allergy relief drug - the three plus one OTC drugs I'm on aren't working! :(

Something that did make me feel a little better this allergy weekend is my improved front porch. Throughout the winter it was so barren. My new improvements have been the addition of two Kimberly Queen ferns (which Martha Stewart says are wonderfully inviting plants for entry ways), our wedding stepping stone and a new rocking chair!

I'd been wanting a chair for the empty corner since we moved in. This weekend I saw one at a yard sale and thought I could refinish it. After closer inspection, even though it was only $15, I decided it would be way more work than I wanted to put into it, so we bought a new one! I did all the assembly of it while Duane and Charley watched.

Check out the look of our front porch now!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Andy and Mandy got married today in Punta Cana. Unfortunately, we couldn't be there to celebrate because Duane used all his vacation days on our own wedding! Hope they had a beautiful day!

We had a relaxed day - I cleaned my car, we ran some errands, drank some Dos Equis while watching the Kentucky Derby then went out to dinner at our local Mexican place, Tortuga's with Shannon, Bryan and Evan! Evan enjoyed himself and even tried on a sombrero!

Afterwards, we came back to our place to hang out. Although it was way past Evan's bedtime, he was wide awake! Such a cute kid!
