My Baby and I project - Week 27/52

Andrew kisses are a little sloppy and feel more like he's sucking on your chin than giving a kiss :)

My Baby and I project - Week 26/52

Holy cow - we're over halfway through the year (and I'm behind on blogging)! Friday July 3rd we walked to downtown Phoenixville to enjoy the First Friday and Fourth of July festivities. We took Andrew in the carrier instead of trying to control the stroller on the hill going downtown and pushing it up the hill on the way home. We had dinner at Baxters, walked around the streets to listen to the music and see the sidewalk sales and walked home to enjoy the fireworks from our deck. Andrew did great in the carrier and even fell fast asleep on the way home as Mommy huffed and puffed up the hills! Here's a pic of us on the way down:

A fun weekend of firsts

The last weekend of June was a big one for Andrew! He had his first overnight stay away from home, first trip to the beach to see the sand and ocean, first time sitting in a restaurant high-chair and booster, first time on a playground swing and first time to the boardwalk. Mommy even had a first - first taste of cheese on Mack-n-Manco pizza since the no-dairy diet started February 1st (and boy was it delicious!).

We left for the Flower's house in Sea Isle, NJ on Friday night after meeting the Roth's for dinner complete with a crazy hail storm at Chic-fil-A. Andrew slept great in his Pack and Play for his first night away from home.

Saturday morning we got up, hung out and decided to go to the beach. Evan didn't want to go so Andrew, Duane, Shannon, Abby and I packed up and hiked over to the beach. We obviously didn't plan the trip out to well because we got there at high noon with high tide and people jammed everywhere, burned our feet on the hot sand, sweated with no breeze, upset Andrew by putting his feet in the cold ocean then left about 20 minutes after arriving when Andrew was melting down and needing a nap. It's pretty comical to think back to it now. After a nap and take out dinner we all took a long walk to the playground and Andrew had his first swing on a playground swing! We walked home, saw a turtle laying eggs and watched the sunset. It was a fun day.

Sunday we went to breakfast on the pier and Andrew sat like a big boy in the resturaunt high chair! Later in the afternoon we attempted the beach again and it went much smoother. Andrew played on a towel in his tent, Abby slept and Evan played ball and with his trucks. After showers we went over to the Ocean City Boardwalk. I couldn't resist my favorite Mack-n-Manco pizza so went against the no-dairy diet and had a few slices while Andrew again sat like a big boy in the booster seat. We were having so much fun we decided to stay over on Sunday night and take off on Monday.

It was a great weekend! Here are some pictures from it:

My Baby and I Project - Week 24/52

Week 24 was my closest to missing a week. For no particular reason, the week was over before I knew it. I thought that no pictures had been taken that week of us until I was looking at my phone photo album. Monday night I was nursing Andrew and snacking on some pretzels. He is so easily distracted - just the mere presence of toys in the room is enough to capture his attention but the noise of a bag of pretzels was just so interesting to him. Before I knew it Mr. Monkey feet was kicking and then grabbing the bag of pretzels. He grabbed it with his feet so that he could bring it to his hands and inspect it like he does everything he can get his paws on. I couldn't get over how he realized he could do that and now notice when things are out of the reach of his hands he kicks, pushes or grabs them with his feet! Anyway, I was trying to take pictures with my phone of him inspecting the pretzel bag so intently and not really intending on being in the shots. Luckily for my project I was in them; not my best shots but they're something :)

New Andrew photos

He likes bubbles and his jumper! It was amazing to watch him figure out the jumper. One day he just kind of sat there and knew there were toys all around then the very next day he got it and realized he could stand up, jump and spin around to play with all the toys. He hasn't stopped jumping since :)

My Baby and I Project - Week 23/52

After work on Tuesday, June 9th, I was talking on the phone to a friend. Andrew was whiny and wanted to be held. I knew he was tired because of the whining but I didn't realize how tired the poor boy really was...by the end of my conversation, he had fallen fast asleep sitting on my lap! Coincidentally, that night we put him to bed and I only got up once to give him his pacifier - mark it down as the first time he slept through the night! I, of course, didn't sleep quite as much as him because I woke up a few times wondering if he was ok. Learning to be a better sleeper is just one of the few things he's learned this month!

Andrew's Six Month photos

For Andrew's six month birthday we had a professional family photo shoot with the fabulous Amy Ro Photography. She is the one who did our maternity and newborn photos. We're sorry to say she's moving away to Rhode Island this month but we love what she's given us in the past shoots! We'll really miss having her do Andrew's one year photos. Here's a link to her blog post with our sneak peak. You must check them out, the family shot is one of my all time favorites so far!

Also, a few weeks ago I rented a professional lens and hoped to get some good photos of him and good practice in. Although I still need a LOT of work, I got a few keepers to share:

My Baby and I project - Week 22/52

Dinner time is a bit of a messy time, especially when it's something like carrots! Andrew has gotten really good at eating his dinner and has had rice cereal, apples, sweet potatoes, peas, pears and carrots so far. We introduce something new every 4 days but in the meantime can mix up the things we already know he's not allergic to. When he doesn't seem to like something (peas are the only thing so far he really didn't like and I don't blame him to be honest!) or isn't in the mood for his plain rice cereal, it goes in a lot easier if it's dipped in a bit of applesauce! That's what we had for dinner in these photos for this week. Rice cereal, carrots and applesauce, sometimes all in the same bite! He ate it all up and despite the way it looks, ended up with not too much on him, the floor or me!
